Schooled in Industrial Design and Architecture, Gunes' interest in photography developed out of his passion for travel and adventure. He worked as a freelance photographer for Turkey's prestigious Atlas Geographic magazine in Istanbul, earning him national respect and the opportunity to cover assignments all over the world.
His photographs have been published in Life Magazine's The Year in Pictures Album (2003), NYC Life Going On (book), The Houston Chronicle newspaper and Newsweek magazine. He was also one of the few photographers chosen to work on the America 24-7 book project (12 of his images will be appearing in the Maryland edition of the book this Fall).
As a wedding photographer Gunes covers the event as he would a magazine or newspaper assignment, capturing the spontaneity and beauty of the day in a rich, dramatic style.
